DM2 has been conducting workshops in Sierra Leone since 2011. Michael Turay, the field director for Sierra Leone, organizes the conferences and oversees the disciple making in Sierra Leone on a daily basis.
Situated on the western coast of Africa, Sierra Leone is a tropical country slightly bigger than West Virginia. It suffered a devastating civil war from 1991 to 2002. The main religion of Sierra Leone is Muslim, but there is a significant Christian minority. Sierra Leone is also one of the world's most religiously tolerant countries. Though English is the official language of Sierra Leone, Krio (a mix of English and indigenous languages) unites the people - over 90% of the population speaks Krio.
