The first DM2 workshop in Zambia took place October 4-14, 2012. Since teaching Romans 1-8 in October 2012 to a group of pastors and leaders, the impact has been amazing. The meeting areas have been packed out and we have to limit the number people who can attend because of the space. Our contact in Zambia, Joseph Chama, is coordinating this workshop. He is the leader of a large group of pastors in the region and a friend of board member David Howard. Since we have begun to hold conferences there, Joseph has led others to train disciples all over Zambia, it is even spreading to surrounding countries.
Zambia is a landlocked country in southern Africa. The climate throughout most of Zambia is tropical. It is one of the world's fastest economically reformed countries. It has recently undergone many reforms to decentralize it's government, lower corruption, and increase the standard of living. The average life expectancy in Zambia is a mere 43 years. Zambia is home to many refugees from the war-torn surrounding countries. Zambia is, according to their constitution, a Christian nation. However, the many syncretic churches blend traditional beliefs with Christianity.
